This collective achievement reflects the strong research culture being nurtured within the AI & Data Science department and highlights the students' ability to translate classroom learning into impactful, publishable research.

A group of 7 second-year students successfully earned the MOOC Certificate on "Getting Started with Cyber Security" on 27th May 2026. This proactive engagement with industry-relevant certification courses reflects their commitment to building strong foundational knowledge in cybersecurity, a critical skill for the modern technology landscape.

Expert Lecture on CO-PO Mapping and Attainment

The Department of CSE (Data Science), in collaboration with IQAC, IIC, and MIC, organized an Expert Lecture on "CO-PO Mapping and Attainment" on 29th May 2026 at Classroom No. 3205, from 1:00 PM to 3:15 PM. The session was attended by 35 faculty members from across the institute and was organized under the guidance of Dr. Ashish B. Manwatkar, HOD, CSE (Data Science) and IQAC Coordinator.

The expert lecture was delivered by Dr. Nalini Jagtap, Associate Professor, PCCOER, Ravet — a seasoned authority on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and NBA accreditation. Prior to the session, she met with Campus Director Dr. Jaywant Sankpal and I/C Principal Dr. Pooja Sharma for a productive discussion on institutional quality enhancement initiatives.

The session was felicitated by Dr. Rajendra Babar, HOD, AI&DS, who emphasized the growing importance of OBE in elevating engineering education quality. Dr. Jagtap conducted the session in a highly interactive manner, covering the alignment of Vision & Mission, PEOs, POs, PSOs, and COs within the SPPU framework. A particularly valuable segment focused on Attainment Calculation Methodology, where she walked faculty through direct and indirect assessment tools, attainment targets, and performance indicators using practical examples. The lively Q&A session addressed faculty queries on CO formulation, NBA documentation, and mapping strategies.

The overall coordination of the event was seamlessly managed by Mr. Kumar Prashant, TPO, whose organizational efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the program. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Shailesh Gavai, reflecting the institute's steadfast commitment to academic quality and continuous improvement.

Empowering Future Innovators: Workshop on "Build AI Automations That Work For You"

AI & Data Science Department | Online Workshop | 31st May, 2026

The Department of AI & Data Science organized an enriching online workshop on "Build in AI Autonomous That Work For You" on 31st May 2026, witnessing enthusiastic participation from 20 students of the department.

The workshop, conducted as part of NxtWave's outreach initiative by Mr. Revanth Konakanchi (MCP Expert and IIT Guwahati Alumnus), focused on building practical understanding of AI automation, autonomous agents, and their real-world applications. Participants gained hands-on exposure to how AI-driven automation tools can be leveraged to improve productivity and solve everyday problems efficiently.

The session sparked great enthusiasm among students and faculty alike, with many participants going on to earn Certificates of Participation. The workshop reaffirmed the department's continuous commitment to keeping students abreast of the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence and emerging automation technologies, encouraging them to explore innovative, industry-relevant applications of AI in their academic and professional journeys.

Leading by Example: Dr. Rajendra V. Babar's Multifaceted Contributions to Academia

Dr. Rajendra V. Babar

Dr. Rajendra V. Babar, HOD of AI & Data Science, has made wide-ranging contributions to academia and skill development over the past month, reflecting his deep commitment to mentorship, quality assurance, and continuous professional growth.

He served as Resource Person for the ISTE-Approved Skill Development FDP on Python Programming at ABIT, Satara, mentoring fellow faculty members and sharing his deep domain expertise. He was also invited as Resource Person for an IETE-Approved Skill Development Workshop on "Python Programming" at the same institute, directly benefiting 45 participants through hands-on training and practical guidance.

Demonstrating his organizational leadership, Dr. Babar served as Convenor for "Build AI Automations That Work For You — NextWave", jointly organized by NextWave Academy and SRTTC, successfully engaging 20 participants in practical, industry-relevant AI automation training.

His academic standing was further reinforced through his role as Reviewer for the 2nd IEEE International Conference on Computing, Communication and Green Engineering (CCGE-2026), organized by JSPM, RSCOE, Pune, and as Reviewer at the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent and Sustainable Electronics & Computing Technologies (INSECT) 2026 at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri, Pune. Additionally, he published a research paper titled "Migration of Legacy Oracle Forms and Reports 10g Applications to Oracle 12c: A Practical Framework for Enterprise System Modernization" in IJIRSET (Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026), contributing valuable insights to enterprise system modernization practices. Together, these contributions highlight his vital role in advancing both teaching excellence and research quality within the engineering community.

Balancing a demanding role as TPO alongside such rigorous coursework demonstrates remarkable discipline and drive. The practical understanding of AI in management now empowers him to offer sharper, more informed career guidance to students.

As HOD of CSE (Data Science), he sets a powerful example for cross-disciplinary learning.
